Descripción

Uncommon. One of the undescribed species currently referred to Pseudocyphellaria crocata.

Photobiont cyanobacterial. Medulla white (in places suffused pale yellow). Upper thallus surface punctate impressed, with soredia and maculae, apothecia not seen. Soredia on thallus margins and lamina, laminal ones pustular, marginal ones labriform. Thallus underside with pale more or less glabrous marginal band otherwise tomentose with pale hairs darkening to brown centrally. Pseudocyphellae confined to thallus undersides, minute, fleck-like to prominent and crateriform, yellow.

Descripción

Common in mixed bryophyte mat covering the upper trunk of rohutu (Lophomyrtus obcordata). Growing admixed with Lejeunea hodgsoniana, Frullania fugax and Macrocoma tenue.

Identified by Dr M.A.M. Renner (@mattamrenner) who described this species in 2010 (Renner et al. 2010).

Photobiont cyanobacterial. Thallus dark blue, to blue-grey when dry; smooth (not wrinkled), lower surface glabrous; upper surface isidiate, isidia simple to coralloid.

Descripción

Uncommon. Corticolous on rawiritoa (Kunzea amathicola).

Photobiont cyanobacterial. Thallus greenish-blue when wet, drying blue-grey, upper surface without isidia or phyllidia, smooth, without wrinkles, lobe margins undulate, mostly entire (rarely finely lacerate), thallus undersides smooth, glabrous. Apothecia abundant, disc orange-brown, exciple entire, pale cream or reddish. Ascospores (20.0)-27.5 x 10.0 microns, submuriform, faintly 4-transversely septate, and longitudinally 1-septate, septae obscured by cytoplasm.

Descripción

The small morph that keys out to this species using Galloway (2007). Images here of herbarium material collected 30 November 2019 - in wet and dry states.

Photobiont cyanobacterial. Thallus when wet slimy, dark green-black. Dry thallus black. Upper thallus surface covered in globular isidia.

There seem to be at least two entities keying out to the concept of this species in Galloway (2007).

Descripción

Treated as Leucodermia leucomelos (L.) Kalb in New Zealand following Mongkolsuk et al. (2015).

Found on canopy branches fallen on forest floor. Phorophyte probably porokaiwhiri (Hedycarya arborea).

Corticolous on rawiritoa (Kunzea amathicola) with Parmotrema perlatum. Locally common. Photobiont cyanobacterial. Thallus prominently wrinkled and ridged; lobe margins thickly encrusted with coralloid isidia (often so densely developed as to obscure thallus). Apothecia not seen.
