Growing on a fairly steep talus slope. Fascinating growth habit for Delphinium.

Species account for closest match here, D. antoninum - also occurring on talus slopes: https://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/eflora_display.php?tid=22459. All the individuals we found on this talus slope had white sepals while the description in Jepson mentions blue. D. andersonii is a possibility as well: https://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/eflora_display.php?tid=22437.

A major discovery for me; with no reports of live specimens since 2007 - I was able to locate a population living at 1680 masl. The species appears to be fossorial, therefore extremely hard to spot. Unfortunately the location is a small relict of privately-owned cloud forest, surrounded by cattle fields.
