Observed sunbathing in a bright spot in the forest.
This worm fell out of my cat’s butt and was mobile, still expanding and contracting. Seems to be the proglottid of a tapeworm. This worm was likely transmitted by a flea, though my cat has had no signs of distress or weight loss during the time of this observation and since then.
Several sparrow families were nesting in the hurricane shutters at the post office.
Tiny, thrip or springtail sized creature with distinctive pattern.
finally got around to identifying these. Dead shells in leaf litter

found in a clump of Erigeron bellioides

Historical record. This was a fun find for us. Five minutes from our old place. One documented record south of this record, a bird was found in West Summerland Key in 1987
Found within Deering Nature preserve. Completely unknown
A local of the area suggested a fish crow based on its call.
