We had pulled over to let another car pass and when we did we accidentally scared it off a fresh kill of a snowshoe hare on the side of the road. https://inaturalist.ca/observations/139659195
The second photo is a habitat shot facing south. I would say there was a brook a couple hundred meters south past the tree line . On the opposite side of the road was a clear-cut a few years old to the north.
