Incredible experience with this Mink. She was moving her babies from one den to another. When I arrived, I was told she had already moved 2. I saw her move 2 more.

Not sure why she was doing this, but guessing her den was disturbed somehow. It is right next to a place where fishermen sit, but not sure if it was that or another animal that got up in there.

Such interesting behavior to see!

Shortly after sunset I saw a murder of crows flying north more or less along Williams Street in Burlington between College Street and Colchester Ave. I followed them to a group of trees between Colchester Ave and Loomis Street, and between North Prospect and Willard Streets. The murder flew from the roost and went south, eventually crossing Main Street.
I photographed the murder in flight taking two photos at a five second interval from my car at a stop light. Some 350 birds counted in one image. THe birds had been flying south in larger groups and the estimated number is the count in one image times 4. There were likely many more than that.

When I observed this 3 inch creature moving. The body moved like an armadillo in sections a type of exoskeleton. It seemed to have two heads and I could not tell which was the front or rear. At one end it seemed to have a white eye and mouth. At the other end it seemed to have a black eye, mouth and nose like a snorkel toughing the round. when I picked it up the body was cold and I turned it over to look underneath. It had many leg which seem bidirectional. Then as I held it tightly on my right hand I reached with my left hand, pinched the snorkel which was hard like an apple stalk and attempted to move it and it snapped breaking. the little creature made a loud scream EEEEE! which effected my ears. the creature started to bleed yellow a lot, the liquid was bubbling and the fumes effected my throat making hard to breath so much so that I had to move away. At that point in but it down as it emptied bleeding the yellow liquid and died. I'm so sorry I didn't know my curiosity would cause it to die. So I would like to know what it was. Please for I am so deeply hurt and I hope it was not the only one left of it's kind.

This Bobcat returned after a three day absence. Stalking red squirrels and checking out the bird feeders but showing no interest in the suet cakes or sunflower seeds. This is the Eastern Bobcat sub-species based on the most recent sub-species classification (2017) by the cat working group. Historically there were 13 sub-species and now only two with the Mexican sub-species still under review. The other North American sub-species is L. r. fasciatus, found west of the Great Plains. The lumpers call it a bobcat and the splitters give it the sub-species moniker. Both are correct.

Female Bobcat was attracted to red squirrels at our bird feeders. Also found our raw beef suet and was looking up at it. Photos are taken through two window panes on a dark overcast day. Switching to suet cakes so as not to attract and habituate this bobcat. She ignored readily accessible suet cakes and was only interested in the raw suet and red squirrels.
