Scale bar -10 µm
This diatom is a symmetrical biraphid. The ends of the diatom are sub-capitate. The morphology is rhombic lanceolate. The striae are curved radiate toward the center of the diatom. Within the sample the width has a wide range but the length and the number of striae per 10 µm is consistent. The sample was taken with a plankton tow at Millers Bay at West Lake Okoboji.
Scale bar = 10µm
araphid diatom, symmetry on apical and transapical axes, there is a constriction on the central region, the apices are rostrate
Scale bar = 10µm
Triboji beach
Valves appear to have "propeller" shape -- lincer-lanceolate, and valves are constricted at central area. Apices are constricted at ends. Striae are parallel but indistinct.
Differs from other Fragilaria (subconstricta, tenuistriata, and capucina) because of shape of apices and shape of the center of the valves.

Third and fourth images from the left are of the same valve, with the fourth from the left image depicting the partecta. The second image from the right shows a full frustule in girdle view.

Seminavis eulensteinii. Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands. Collected from flocculent plant material and soil samples.
Freshwater. Many of these were in the sample.

Rows of very fine mantle areolae inclined to the left. Large linking spines. Variable size.

L. rossii is often cited in the literature as Cyclotella rossii. Valve faces are flat, and the central areas have ornamentation that varies in size, number, and arrangement.
scale bar in image is 10 μm
Asymmetric araphid diatom with a large head pole and a small footpole. Both poles are rostrate, but the headpole is more so. There is a single rimportula near the top of the headpole. Both the striae and costae roughly parallel. There is a narrow sternum.
in observed specimen,
Length range= 33-69 μm
width range (at widest point) = 5-5.5 μm
striae density range = 17-20 per 10 μm
costae density range = 3-4 per 10 μm
From algal mat retrieved from hillside seep.
Length range 49-59 μm. Breadth range 5-6 μm. Costae density (per 10 μm) range 3-6. Striae density (per 10 μm) range 17-18.
Distinct pseuduoraphe visible. Capitate valve ends distinguish these speciemens from M. circulare var. circulare.
