Had a really nice afternoon with Brentano at SouthWest Nature Preserve. Spotted lots of dragonflies and some other neat things too.

Went west to help out with a vegetation survey with some fellow TPWD biologists -- did some black-lighting roadside just south of Possum Kingdom State Park this evening.
Had a great evening with Rio Brazos Master Naturalists and the public on the first night of moth week!
Sorry about the photo quality of most of these observations... Ah well.
Working on proposals and reviews and stuff in the office... Had to step out to enjoy some nature. It's nice having an office in a state park! :)
I went down to Austin TPWD headquarters to get a replacement truck -- the previous one had over 100K miles, so I got a new one! :) On the way back north, I visited this incredible park, Bull Creek District Park, to see some of the plants that Andy, Eric, and Joshua (among others) have seen. Really cool place.
This fish was dead unfortunately but I hardly ever see fish like these often. This fish was a yellowish color with light dark stripes. It was a pretty good sized fish and as far as fish go I know almost nothing about regular inland fish. I am more of an oceanic fish person and know more about those but I really need to get to know my inland freshwater fishes. This one was a very interesting one. The normal ones that wash up are either catfish or small fish. I know this is kind of disturbing but hey it is just how it goes sometimes and we can learn a little bit from dead fish. This one was one of the biggest ones I have seen out here.
On my way to Tandy Hills to meet with a group of kids, I stopped by McDonald Park in Fort Worth. This park has tremendous potential, but it's such a sketchy neighborhood... I saw a couple 'handoffs' as I was looking for birds. :-/
Lots of evidence of people here. Trash throughout the creek... :-/
