Leaf blade >10mm wide; hairy collar region; ligule a fringe of hairs
Life stage: It’s in the vegetative growth/ fruiting life stage (The more mature ones are producing seeds while the younger ones keep growing to produce the following years seeds).
Origin: introduced from Eurasia.
Defining Traits: The plant hight ranges from 150 cm to- 400cm. The leaf blade length ranges from 15-40cm. The nodes are hairless while the stem has multiple hairs. The stem thickness is 5-15mm.
Plant Community: lives in disturbed habitats and edges of wetlands.
Background/other info: This species is extremely invasive and taking over the native species variety. Difficult to remove as it reproduces using rhizomes.
