Wet area in woods. 24-39. One branch bud between rays of stellate capitulum. Apical bud clearly prominent. Two spreading branches per fascicle (occasionally 3). Branch leaf cross-sections show triangular chlorocysts with base on concave surface. Stem cross-section without brown coloration or clear demarcation between layers. Stem leaves broadly spatulate, lacerated throughout apex and along sides. Most stem cortical cells with a pore.
