Hard to photograph macro stuff while snorkeling, especially since I can't hold my breath for very long! I wish I would've tried for better photos but I also make sure not to touch the reef.

These were identified in person by an expert in invertebrates.
I have spent countless hours trying to identify this. Hoping someone can help. From last trip to keys.
What kind of insect this?
My son found this on the beach and was wondering what it was.
So this is squishy, dark brown, and approx 2.5” long. Covered in small shells. Please help me ID. Found during low tide washed up in wave line.
