Possibly a variegated variety
Possibly a ligustrum species? Leaves have cooked or burnt bacon smell
definitely fabaceae based on the seed pods but otherwise not sure! couldn't get a very close picture because it was far off the board walk :(
Identification:
Class: Aves
Order: Suliformes
a. I classified this species as a member of Aves because it has feathers. I classified this bird as a member of Order Suliformes because it appeared to have a gular pouch, although it was hard to see in the picture. In addition, cormorants fall under Order Suliformes according to the lab manual.
b. During the time of my observation, it was sunny, warm, and dry with a cool breeze. The temperature was about 72 degrees F.
c. The place of the location where I took the picture was at Lake Wauberg near Paines Prairie. There is a large lake that is surrounded by tall grass. There are also a lot of trees surrounding the lake.
d. There was a group of these birds that were swimming with each other. This shows that this species of bird is capable of flocking and socializing with members of its own species. These birds had a unique way of swimming in which only their necks and heads were out of the water. Occasionally, they would dip their heads down completely underwater to grab some food.
