I have no idea but some kind people on mushroom hunting NZ ID’d for me :)

Growing on a small branch on the ground in beech forest. Spongy texture, 4-5 pores per mm.
Brown fan-shaped mushroom without stipe growing from rotting wood.
Spore print brown.Spores spherical.

Up to about 100 mm across. Woody.
In larger context photo occurs at bottom left (3 fungi in that photo)
in a small 'cave in a rotting tree stump. I think it's a lichen. The last image is when I pulled some out. was about 30cm wide by 30 cm high, not sure how deep.
