Found 1 week after a rain. This was at head height on a dead tree. I thought it was a jack-o-lantern mushroom, but the gills don't go down the stalk
No staining, found under ponderosa pine and oak, cap relatively dry. Not slimy
Can anyone ID these? gills, thick white stalk, growing in clusters in leaflet, no volva visable, firm and meaty
I honestly have no clue what type of mushroom this is! has similar shape to a chanterelle mushroom but I am not well versed on identifying species. but i found this super cool mushroom with loads of baby snails living under the top of it. the entire base of the mushroom had been detached from the ground so perhaps the little snails were snacking on it.
