Found in grassy / bushy area
The bands becoming incomplete along the dorsal mid-line of the body are throwing me off a bit. It has been suggested to me that it may possibly be a Southern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix). This individual was found near a boundary between the two subspecies. Further identification help at the subspecies level is appreciated.
Found road-cruising at night in the Mark Twain National Forest area.
