Early this afternoon I heard from a friend that the pair of Whooping Cranes wintering in Port Aransas was closer to the Birding Center boardwalk that usual. So I went over there to see. They were closer than I've ever seen them before, and despite cold and wet conditions, I took some photos and showed several people the cranes through my spotting scope. What a fun afternoon!
