Hitchhiker
I had returned to my car at Sunset Bay when I saw something strange. My car had a little hitchhiker. I don't see this kind of robber fly very often. This is a female and she has one of the longest ovipositors of all the robber flies. There does not seem to be a common name for this particular species.
Photo 2:
Look! I'm A Hood Ornament
She moved from one spot to another and when the light hit her, it turned her a beautiful silvery color. She actually looked a bit like a hood ornament sitting there. This species is also known for the long furry white hairs.

Found this lil guy on my window screen. These are great insects to have in your garden. Their larvae eat pest bugs such as aphids, thrips, spidermites. The adults eat nectar. Some people buy lacewing eggs to put in their gardens as part of their organic pest control.

Female Ghost Spider
This tiny spider was hanging from an almost invisible thread mid air. The purple in the background was a hanging basket of wandering jew plant. Brand new kind of spider for me, one of the ghost spiders.
Photo 2:
Ghost Spider Side View
As she twisted in the wind, I was able to get shots from different angles. Ghost spiders get their name due to their pale color and their habit of being secretive, only coming out at night. So I must have been really lucky to see this one in the daytime.

Photo 3:
Ghost Spider Under View
I was extremely lucky to get this shot. See the small semi circle of red in the middle? That is called the epigynum & it is the external genital structure of female spiders. Visible on mature spiders of all kinds but not always on the youngsters. Had thought she was a baby but she was tiny and mature. With this genus, it was the only way to know she was a female. Also got a fairly good view of silk being shot out of the spinnerets.

Tiny Bee Fly
This little bee fly was enjoying some nectar on my pot of gaillardias. There are many different species in this genus and without the actual specimen, genus is the best id I could get from experts. The name Geron comes from Greek for "old man" due to its humpbacked look. This is my first one of this genus.
I only kept this first shot for my gallery, but adding some others here to possibly help with the id.

Will work on all of these ID’s later on – just wanted to upload them first.

Male
This is a new species for me. Found on an elephant ear leaf at White Rock lake. I was looking them up to see if there were any interesting facts. Ran across this info: females sometimes eat the male's forewings during mating. Hmmm, guess it still beats being a preying mantis male.

See this observation 2 days later to help you confirm this species: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/37172579

Photo 1:
That's a Lot of Babies
4 days ago I glanced out my window and saw what looked like a monarch laying eggs on my containers of milkweed. Didn't take a photo cause I wanted her to not be scared off. The next morning I found tons of eggs spread out over several containers. When the time came, I collected 27 hatchlings and brought them in to my butterfly habitats to raise. Prior to this, the most I've ever had at one time was 12.
Presumed Monarch hatchlings
Spoiler alert, turned out not to be monarchs.
Photo 2:
Tiny Baby, Big Appetite
Cropped this one to better show what the hatchlings look like. Eating and pooping a lot already.

Just got an id back from the experts & it turned out to be new for me. There is no common name for genus or species but it is part of the family of shield-backed bugs. Not a beetle but a true bug. Kin to stink bugs but different family. It was feeding off the juices of a giant ragweed plant at the lake.
