My first spotty up here!
Found while cleaning salamander Henry st pathways
20:30-21:30. Raining and 45 degrees F. 7 live wood frogs observed (and assisted in road crossing), 10 wood frog observed dead due to traffic. Three vehicles passed during this hour. No other amphibians observed.
Frog #1 of 3/2!
Littleton, MA.
The first and only herp spotted on Wednesday night! It got cold faster than expected. Male, enlarged cloaca. Was heading back East, towards the uplands instead of the pond. Made its way across the road all by itself!
People still using the road :(
Live frog #4! Moved across road to avoid car. Car was on the way so I didn't have time to take a road (where I found it) picture.
Live frog #3! Moved across road to avoid car
Dead :( body still mostly intact, but no response (seems like it was hit rather than run over, looks like head injury. Maybe jumped and hit by car bumper?)
Unfortunately, there were many other dead carcass. Although most were harder to ID than this one, I think there was 1 dead spring peeper and 10+ dead wood frogs on Henry St.
Live frog #2! Moved across road to avoid car
