Still

...would describe my activity here. I am still here but I am quite still (not very active)
I am still in that Other Place https://www.ispotnature.org/
And we still battle on, still discontent with the lack of progress which still verges on hopeless
BUT I STILL come here and browse the pages, still wanting to add more, promising myself, every time I come.
I will; that's STILL a promise.

You are most welcome.

IF you note - https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any - we have 13 million observations here (has iSpot got to 1M yet?) and I see the UK has only 130k observations on iNat. (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=6857)

But look at the fun you can have: use the page tool bar
species: 7252 - https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=6857&view=species :: which is tops and second, and with a click of the filter, 2343 species of plant, while iSpot will still be chugging and chugging and chugging and chuggins.
top atlasser: wildhamandpetersham 16,628 observations and 1,650 speices followed by tiggrx (5,657 obs & 2,501 species) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=6857&view=observers

Dream on: iSpot will never get here. EVER! It is a Dodo. An Albatross around your neck. Come over from the Dark side, and turn your frustrations to excitement.
Portugal just joined as a new community ...

See you soon

Yes, it all looks cool. at least superficially (it is not a superficial site though).
The thing I hate most about iNat is the lack of 'education' I post in iSpot to be educated not to store my fire-and-forget pictures. Thousands of people, both here and a little less so in iSpot, do that - post-a-pic and go for a two-month coffee break.
I appreciate the need to photograph every living thing in the World and give it a label - that's what iNat seems to be about. Browsing a few quick ones, I can see that few people engage here. Goodness Tony, you USED to engage in the Other Place.
Take this (I'm not being rude) https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/16711106 are you expecting a long humorous comment trail, like in iSpot, or someone to say Old Word Yew tree and for it to become Research Grade. What are you wanting from this place? Just IDs?.
Here's another https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/16711337 no notes, no real interest? Will it generate an informative series of Comments or will it simply become Research Grade - who cares?.
There are plenty of similar examples in iSpot and iRecord and iLike (my own pictures)
NOTHING has changed since you left the Other Place, it is appalling BUT I have lengthy discussions with people who like discussing and who have stuff to learn and much to impart. If I want to join in the post-and-forgetters, I can. If I want to engage I will encourage it and get satisfaction. Here though? https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/8308942 I wonder, but certainly not so far (one in 13 million obs of course)
I admire your spirit, always have.

True: but you need to make a presence before you establish connections with the community. iNat is far busier. It is your supermarket, compared to your corner store. You need to recognize people before you chat, it is not where everyone knows you.
By far the majority of people following you (and whom you are following) are your old iSpotters and most are from South Africa!! None of them so seaweeds.
You need to get your local community going - and follow them:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?lat=58.927986&lng=-3.081447&locale=en&order_by=observed_on&place_id=any&preferred_place_id=113055&radius=50&view=observers
And you need to connect with the seaweeders:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?verifiable=true&taxon_id=57774&place_id=6857&preferred_place_id=113055&locale=en&view=identifiers
sorry: click on "observers" rather.

Then things will be quite different.
