Apologies for the poor quality photos. I'm unsure of local birds mating habits but the very small bird (maybe 4-6in from beak to tail) appeared to be making a clearing on the ground moving leaves from one place to another.
When I got close it would fly into a nearby bush but would always return to the same spot once I was far enough away.

I found this single leaf under a dead tree. Covered in small white hairs and brown sap-like spots. Could be nothing significant but there was nothing similar in the immediate area.
