Spotted early this morning. I pulled over to get a closer look because I initially believed it to be injured. It was sitting under a tree and being harassed by a couple smaller birds and it had its wings fluffed out a bit. As I walked up, snapped a pic then started recording and it flew away with a squirrel in its grasp. Guess it was just chilling and trying to enjoy breakfast before the smaller birds started messing with it. Impressively large bird! I didn’t get super close but even zoomed at a distance I could tell it was really big.

This little one fell down our chimney around 1am. Safely caught/released in the backyard. 3rd one in the last year, this one smaller than the last two. Guess we have a population of them nearby.

Young(ish) copperhead found while doing yard work. It was initially picked up with snake tongs and put in a bucket before a quick transfer to a lidded tote. Relocated not far up the road in a non neighborhood location. Seemed really healthy with beautiful markings.

Spent a few minutes teaching my son about this beautiful species and sent her on her way. She seemed larger than others I’ve seen here!
