Really pretty, hard and somewhat velvety texture. Reminds me of a crust fungus more than a slime mold, but I am uncertain. Growing on a downed hardwood tree.

Not sure what whale this could be, Pygmy sperm my best guess - I’m a bird person after all. Some others have said pilot whale. This guy washed up alive on the north end of assateague, I called the national aquarium and they came and took him, I hope he lives. He was only 3-4 feet in length, likely a calf.

A great black-backed gull was trying to choke this still alive fish down, but it was too big for it! I would’ve put it back in the water but the wounds looked severe and I decided to let the gulls keep it, they found it after all

Pinkish, large Amanita that lacks an obvious volva and has bright white spores. Found in a loblolly-dominant forest on Assateague. Pinker than I’ve seen before but not sure what else these could be. Perhaps lacking flecks on caps due to heavy rain? Very pretty.
