Ok Entos, someone is going to teach me something today! Splitting wood and out of the middle of a big ol oak log this instar/larva/grub??? alien-looking thing fell out of a cavity in the log. 53 years in central Texas, and here it is. New to me for sure.

Not sure what this lady was doing. She wasn’t going head first into the flower like she was looking for pollen or nectar. More like she was depositing eggs or something.
