A large antlion juvenile found wandering across the path. Approximately 1.5cm or more in total length. The immediate area consisted of white sandy soil with Restios and grasses being the predominant species in evidence. (I do also have a short video of the antlion in motion if anyone should be interested)

Two tiny weevils found (apparently) feeding on the seedpods of an invasive Acacia. I didn't have time to search for more as I was guiding a hike at the time.

A cluster of these pincushions were in flower on the edge of an old block of pine plantation. There were none across the road in the established fynbos. I have never seen anything like them elsewhere on our trails through the mountains in this area and suspect they may have been introduced by the old foresters. (Nearby we found Hakea victoria too, also not evident outside of the old plantation.)
