Very small flower, growing alone except for another bud which looked rolled or twisted. Bright red or red pink hue, five petals, yellow stamen deep in the center. Leaves are very broad and tougher to the touch. I'm not sure if it is native to the area because it was growing in a large box with other plants in front of a building and other parts of plant were trimmed very low, as can be seen in the picture. I wonder if that effects how it is grown?

Reminds me of daffodils because of the tubular shape and petals splayed outward on the flower. Smaller than typical daffodils, purple hue, many flowers grow from one stem, flowers connect to stem in alternate pattern all around the stem. Long, narrow leaves that grow from base of plant. It was the only plant growing in the area, which was under a larger bush with pines.

Low-growing flower in bush. Purple hue, five petals forming star shape in center of flower, deep center, yellow inside. Petals have straight sides and sharp points rather than rounded edges. Was growing alone. No visible leaves (leaves in picture are from separate plant (I think... It was a big bush and I wasn't able to find point of where flower sprouted)).

Found growing out of rocks while hiking in red hills. Flat, paddle-like petals growing from central point, soft texture, thick (not hollow), green with pink hue on tips, bigger petals on outside, smaller on inside. Reminds me of a succulent.

Found growing between rocks and gravel near concrete.
Small, blue/purple buds growing on the ends.
Leaves seem to be growing in a whorl pattern mostly near the top of the stems.
Leaves are covered in "fur", look fuzzy.
A lot of stems growing together.

Small red-orange berries in large cluster.
Broad, almost waxy leaves.
Phyllotaxy seems to be alternate.
Growing on a bush about 6 ft tall.
Some small research has led me to believe this plant is in the firethorns genus, but most species have long, narrow leaves while this bush has more wide leaves.
