I am unsure if this is a beaver, muskrat, or something else. Found near the edge of the water eating some grass. There are trees that have been bitten near the trunk.

While the photo does not show it, this bird was a very vibrant red. There were two other individuals flying around with it, and one was strangely red-brown. Perhaps a juvenile or the other sex.
