Guineafowl - had 15 chicks, now 13 chicks.
The little chick in the last picture in the right front bottom of the photo, was acting abnormal from the start, running into a different direction than the others. He was rather looking for sun to sit in, while the others were feeding. We feared for the others lives because he would go into the road to sit in the sun late afternoon and the hen and all other chicks will follow him. On 31 December, we found a dead chick run down by a car and we suspect it must have been this little chick, as the others have been staying together.

The Cape Robin used to be 1st and last bird call for the day in our tree, however, since the Klaas's Cuckoo appeared, it seemed to have taken over that "job" and the Cape Robin is not frequenting our garden as often.

We've seen this plant in Kirstenbosch before but unfortunately do not know its name. It came up about 7 years ago and only flowered now for the first time.

Maybe a bee eater? My uncle found it on their stoep evening of 2 Oct, wet and cold on farm 20km south of Beaufort West. They kept it warm through the night and let it free the next morning.

The acacia pied barbet arrived in our garden during 2020. It started carving its nest but didn't find a mate during the 2020/2021 season.
The pied barbet has since secured a mate and they have subsequently successfully raised 2 chicks the 2021/2022 season.
This family built another nest in the same stump during the end of 2022/2023 season and successfully raised another 3 chicks.
2 chicks were raised during the 2023/2024 season.
