Tentative ID.
This appears to be a day flying moth that I found next to the fen on a small bit of rock barrens. It looked like a slow buzzy fly that flew a foot off the ground. I followed it for about a minute but eventually lost sight of it. About 20 minutes later and some distance from my first sighting, I caught up with this one (or the same one?).
Epiblema infelix and Epiblema gibsoni are very similar. The only ON records of these 2 species are from the Port Franks area and they are considered on the Pohl list to be unconfirmed and yet plausible.
Epiblema walsinghami has been confirmed from ON, however I can find no mention of any collection sites.

I thought that this was a beetle at first. Very small, 4mm or so.
I can see one strong bristle on the head (between the antennae. Also the arista are feathery.
Lauxaniidae versus Drosophilidae: The easiest character to look for is the strong bristles on the frons (top of the head right above the eye). In most of our lauxaniids, there will be two strong bristles above each eye, both facing backwards. Drosophilids usually have one strong bristle facing backward, often a weaker one facing backward just in front of the strong one, but usually a fairly strong one facing forward as well. Many drosophilids have long rays on the arista of the antenna, while in most lauxaniids the arista is bare or has very short hairs. (Comment by Terry Wheeler)... BugGuide

Found at the edge of a wetland (with numerous willows) in the middle of a meadow. Note the dull yellow abdominal spots on tergite 2 and 3, and the small amount of yellow on the base of the metatibia. The early flight time and habitat bolster this ID.

Possibly on the hunt for Andrena due to the Dunning's Mining Bee colony close by.
From BugGuide...
First posterior cell open; cross-veins clouded; fringe of white hairs on lower edge of face; red spots on face (rather than black spots of willistoni).
Not sure what this means yet about the first posterior cell being open, however the other features look good.

Here are 3 comments differentiating L. laticinerea from L. antennata from an observation on iNat. Here...
inaturalist.ca/observations/41300972

Apparently laticinerea lacks both the overall silvery-bluish reflectivity and the blackish claviform of antennata. There's a notable difference in proportions as well: antennata usually has shorter/broader wings while laticinerea is longer/narrower.

Laticinerea does have a contrasting paler basal area, although it's a pale gray contrasting with the darker gray of the rest of the wing (instead of whitish in antennata), often with a darker gray edge where antennata has black.

Also, Forbes "Leps of New York" points out that laticinerea has a bigger suborbicular than antennata, which is evident here and in (most) other web photos.
