This plant appeared next to my garage wall and I cannot find a good match for it. I am thinking it could be a sunflower as I have a bird feeder nearby but was told it could be a moon flower but did not seem to match. It has not flowered yet. I hope someone can identify this plant. Not sure if I should pull it out or keep it.

Finally I see pollinators in the garden. This year, there are very few compared to previous years. This monarch is visiting the milkweeds. a nice surprise after seeing no bees, no bumble bees, no wasps all summer so far. Not sure why pollinators did not come out this summer yet.

This beautiful monarch has been coming to the swamp milkweed in my garden. I also discovered a caterpillar on that same plant. This swamp milkweed was also a favourite for the monarch last year. I have so many common milkweed but this plant is a magnet for monarch and bumble bees too.

This picture shows me result as Dog-day Cicada. It really looks like a giant house fly..... it was on the house wall, motionless and did not move when we were going in and out the door, just besides where it was. So, not sure this identification is accurate. help needed. The insect is about 3/4 inch long wings included.

A robin built its nest on our deck railing at the cottage. 4 babies were born and the following week were gone. A week later another robin laid 2 eggs in this same nest but I think they got eaten. We found pieces of egg shells around the nest the following week.
