This organism was a vibrant green. It was about the size of my hand. A friend suggested this mantis was female and ready to lay eggs. It was found on a farm, so the habitat is a blend of urban and prairie. (http://mantodea.myspecies.info/identification-praying-mantids)

These ferns seem to spread easily; they covered a large transect of land. They ranged from a light to dark yellow green. Their leaves were not hearty, they were smaller and thin. The stems were very flexible. I did not observe reproductive structures present. (https://www.discoverlife.org/20/q?search=Pteridophyta) The habitat was FL woods.

This plant featured pinkish flowers in a columnar arrangement. These are reproductive structures; the angiosperm (http://www.flora.dempstercountry.org/0.division.pages/Angiospermae.html). The leaves were a hearty green, reminiscent of ferns in structure, but each frond was only about the size of my thumb. The whole plant stood about 3 feet. The habitat was a pine forest.

This moss covered a well shaded oak tree root. It had a soft, plush-like appearance. It was green, though not a rich dark green but a supple lighter shade. The habitat was urban, in the courtyard of USF campus. Based on the patterns of growth giving the "fluffy" appearance, I am inclined to place it in Bryophyta (https://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?search=Bryophyta).

Leaves are elongated and extend the entire height of the plant. This particular specimen is >1 ft, though others in the area appear taller. The leaves are variegated in a pattern alternating between light and dark green. This variegatation can be observed in the image on https://eol.org/pages/34643. They have a point at the top. The habitat is disturbed, it has recently been adjacent to construction and had a good deal of debris. The organism originated on the African continent, and remains prominent in equatorial latitudes, but survives as house plants elsewhere additionally.
