Smilax australis, female, (this vine has male and female forms, so there must be a male nearby for this female to flower). Common names Lawyer Vine, Barbed-wire Vine, and Wait-a-while (which you would if you got hooked by it!). Growing naturally in our front-yard.

2 of 14 little Bleating Tree Frogs we found in the basket of our old cement yard tank, in the backyard. Tank needed filling, so frogs were relocated to our frogpond in the front yard, where there is plenty of cover - Native Gingers, young and adult Piccabeen Palms, Bleeding Hearts etc., and permanent water.

This one really has me puzzled...very small, looks like a wasp, thread-waisted, texture like a Velvet Ant (sorry that's probably very unscientific), but what on earth are those clawed outriggers??????? I wondered if it could be a symmetrical pair of pseudo-scorpions but what are the chances??? Hope someone can help with identifying what it is.

Never thought I'd say this, but I was really happy to see this little heat-seeking missile headed my way...haven't seen any for several years now, a sign perhaps of not enough rain for this forest that used to be a damp forest, and now is only damp intermittently.
