Naticidae family. Moon snail and trails they make in the wet sand. Native species.

Balls are created from the fibrous rhyzomes of the sea grass that when rolled around on the sand by tide action and storms, eventually get washed onto the beach as “balls”. North Haven beach.

Other common names- bob tail,stumpy tail, stumpy, blue tongue, sleepy lizard.
