Pretty much a rare occurrence in Australia. I returned to the site and found remnants of previous fruitings to ensure there was enough material for microscopy. See all images

Grown on Wallaby scat this is an emerging fruit at about 1.5mm in length. The second and third images show a much smaller emerging fruit that I estimate is 30-40 microns tall

From an open forest that was razed by fire 2 years ago. The lack of soft rotting timbers made finding myxos difficult. This one was on the underside of a log only fond by rolling the log over. I am not sure about ID but will start with P. viride

This was a very fresh fruiting that matured over 30 hours through caramel, chocolate to black then metallic iridescent... I am certainly not sure if it is a Diachea as the majority of the fruits did not have a white foot. There were a few that had very minor white feet, but nothing like the traditional full length stem. Very attractive plasmo/fruit and of course the iridescent aftermath!
What I also do not know is if any Diachea's have this vibrant coloured plasmo..??

Microscopy has been done on these and the closest match looks like Paradiachea cylindrica

Again I quote someone who has way more knowledge than myself>>> Edvin Johannesen comments 'It's not A. denudata, but difficult so see what else. Possibly A. incarnata or A. insignis.'

Are they Trichia decipiens or Hemitricia calyculata? I puzzle over this one, and am thinking the length of the stipe might be a key...??? Am leaning towards H.calyculata.. Whatever it is, I love the spray of spores it leaves when open to the elements!

These were in large numbers that transgressed about 1 metre along one section of log. Such was this decaying forest giant tree...close proximity for two different myxos.

I am quoting someone who has seen this image becoause I simply do not know..>>>Edvin Johannesen quotes "
'Do I see concentric lines on the cup to the far left? That would indicate C. atrofusca. But it looks more like C. piriformis or C. aurantiaca. Or is the cup not really there (just apparently so)? If the cup is scarcely present, it could be C. intricata.'

On the 19 January I found a white plasmo on the underside of one section of this decaying tree. On the 27th the upper section was swarming with these fresh fruits.
