Photo is of a plot where I transplanted several of this species a few year ago. There is 1 flower spike that has grown up through the other(competing?) vegetation. Last year the plot had 3-4
flower spikes. The plot may contain several other flower spikes that are hidden within the vegetation, or that may emerge later. I don't remove much competing vegetation on the plot, so possibly, I can see the effects of competing plants. Thus far I haven't seen any dramatic effects. Originally I thought I might be able to see if the orchids reproduced vegetatively or through seeds being spread.

leaves only, growing in lawn after having produced a flower spike this winter. Marked with pin flag to avoid being mowed, thus it is fairly easy to see and rest of vegetation in area is kept down by mowing.
