I noticed a turtle walking about close to the edge of the road. My assumption is the turtle had come on land to lay eggs in the sandy areas adjacent to the gravel roadway—although I did not see any definite evidence of this in the area.

Observed growing in a disturbed area in which a bridge had been constructed last year over a small stream. Is this a non-native, invasive plant?

Based on a fisher I saw coming out of a rock pile about a week ago, and then returning after yesterday’s snow to find the tracks shown in the snow—with one coming out from under the same rock—I think these are indeed fisher tracks.

Yesterday's heavy snow made it easy to see these LARGE foot prints in our backyard. The bear tipped over the plastic composte bin that contained only raw vegetables, citrus waste, etc. but no cooked foods, eggs or meat.

This scat appeared twisted, rope-like and approximately 2 cm in diameter. It was very light, dry, and had no significant odor. It was full of hair but no bones were apparent. The scat seems too wide in diameter to be from a fisher, but I suppose that it could be coyote scat. Comments from others are be most welcome.
