I taught at Echo Hill Outdoor School on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay, mostly leading birdwatching walks, identifying wildflowers and maintaining a small weather station. After relocating to California, I worked in healthcare finance but still enjoyed the world of nature and hiked as often as I could. After retirement, I became a volunteer trail guide at Mission Trails Regional Park in San Diego in 2018.
I find no greater pleasure than finding something I do not know and photographing it with my iPhone 11 (upgraded to 14Pro!) camera and researching its identity. Thank you, iNaturalist for this opportunity to understand, to educate myself, to appreciate and to share the wonder of the world around me.
My profile photo is of Cylindromyia intermedia, a member of Bristle Flies (Family Tachinidae)
