I have many hats: wife, mother, grandmother, and dog mom. I love to create things, whether it be woodturning, beading, or fiber arts. I grew up fishing and hunting with my dad, mostly as an excuse to spend as much time following nature as possible. My goal in college, oh so many years ago, was to become a science writer/naturalist. My undergrad degree was in print communications, with minors in English and biology. As a side venture, I attended seminary, then parlayed all my experience into a career in environmental health when I needed something to pay the bills. Twenty-one years ago, my husband and I bought a farm. After raising cattle, a while back we sold the herd and now we're allowing the land to be used for wildlife.

I've spent my life doing a little bit of everything. I have finally found a passion for one thing in particular however: moths. To that end, I take a lot of pictures, focusing on finding a balance between capturing images that have scientific value while also igniting the interest of the casual observer. On the science side, I'm working on diversifying my efforts to include specimen collection, DNA analysis, and dissection for the purposes of identification. My goal is to gather as complete a record of the moths indigenous to Southeast Oklahoma as possible, and to my farm in particular--enjoying myself in the process.
