I began learning to ID animals as a girl when my father took me duck hunting. It was then that I learned that a mallard had a green head while a wigeon had a green strip over its eye. I've been a fan of nature and classifying species ever since.
I have taught biology for 18 years and got into it because I LOVE NATURE! My goal in teaching is to inspire future generations to see the variety, unity, and magnificence in the living things around them. The more species they can ID, the greater their appreciation for those characteristics of the natural world.
My favorite organisms to ID are insects and birds.
