A serious birder since 2008, I've enjoyed combining that passion with nature photography and encouraging others to appreciate the natural world via offering presentations, teaching beginning birding classes and other volunteer work. A Virginia Society of Ornithology board member, I also serve as a Vice President of the Rockingham Bird Club, coordinating Club field trips. A lifelong nature-nut, I've added butterflies and more recently moths to my focus and am interested in all critters and plants. Originally from Long Island, NY, I do miss the beaches but love the mountains and natural areas here in western Virginia, near Harrisonburg. I LOVE iNaturalist as both an educational and citizen-science tool. Currently (spring 2020) I'm enrolled in the Virginia Master Naturalist training and am looking forward to encouraging more folks to use and learn from the iNaturalist platform.
