I was a conservation biologist with The Nature Conservancy. Among my duties were overseeing and coordinating biological inventories, The Conservancy’s Texas natural history and biological information database and archives, site assessments, and use of that biological information for conservation planning and application on the ground.

My professional specialty is vertebrate zoology, zoogeography, and natural history, and tying it all to conservation of special places: landscapes, habitats, and ecosystems. My interests are southwestern US and northern Mexico biota and ecology, with field experience in the Chihuahuan Desert and southwestern “sky island” mountain ranges, south and coastal Texas, and northeast Mexico. For nearly 2 decades, I worked in the West Texas program as land steward, conservation biologist, and regional program manager before moving to San Antonio in 2009 to take on this statewide biologist function.
