I am a nerdy database developer who likes to get out into nature and spend hours exploring woodland trails and prairie paths. I volunteered for the Preserve District for several years before finally becoming the site steward for Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora, IL back in 2017. I'm on a personal mission to help record as many species found the in the natural areas Kane County, and so have been defining the borders of all the forest preserves. I have also created a biodiversity project so I can see how they compare against each other. If you have a favorite preserve, then join the associated project and help boost its species count.

Born in England, my childhood passion was for biology, which resulted in a degree in microbiology from the University of Liverpool. I moved to Illinois in 2002, and for the past few years, have been slowly familiarizing myself with the fauna and flora of the state.
