I'm interested in bugs of all kinds, but I'm especially interested in lightning bugs, ground beetles, click beetles, and soldier beetles.

I've developed a shiny app to help analyze audio recordings of firefly flash patterns. Since flashing is hard to pick up on camera, a common method of timing the flash pattern is to make an audio recording of yourself as you count the flashes. Going over the recording and analyzing the time between flashes, dark period, length of flashes etc. can be time consuming. My shiny app aims to automate that process. It's not perfect but it works in most scenarios and cuts down on the time I have to spend going over my recordings and taking notes.

It can be found online at https://vtspaid.shinyapps.io/firefly-flash/
or you can download the code from github and run it directly on your machine, which is a much better experience as the website is quite slow. https://github.com/vtspaid/firefly-flash
