Woohoo! Neat! Let's go for the 10.000 now!
not only over 1000, it must have gone over 1111 Species not so long ago. We should lift some liquid to that soon!
1500 ;-) 9500 to go til 10000.

Oh, where did you read this? My first thought was indeed "ONLY 40.000?" :D
e.g. here https://www.wwf.de/themen-projekte/biologische-vielfalt/reichtum-der-natur/biodiversitaet-in-deutschland/, but I just noticed that I only remembered the counter for the "10000", and dropped 9000 species, ähem.
worse, that was only the animal kingdom, I disregarded plants and fungi
correction,
25.000 plants & fungi
48.000 animals
(from https://biologischevielfalt.bfn.de/infothek/biologische-vielfalt/vielfalt-in-deutschland.html)
So 40000 for the Leipzig Riverside Forest should be feasible :-)
