Boxelder Maple Leaf
By using OneZoom, I was able to identify the location of a boxelder maple leaf. It was found under the eukaryotes section, which then led to plants, and eventually narrowed down to thirty different species of maple leaves. Within those thirty various species, the boxelder maple leaf species was then found in the same grouping as a rocky mountain maple leaf. - All of the identified leaves found in the group project all shared one similarity. All leaves had a dermal tissue system with an outermost waxy layer called the cuticle (which is known as the epidermis). This is an adaptation to the environment because it serves as a protective barrier from its surroundings, especially ones where it may cause the structure of a leaf to be vulnerable, for example heavy rain or winds.

The leaves on a locust tree
The leaves appear very longitudinal and spine-like, which in my opinion is an ideal shape for a plant, especially in a wet environment. The long and thin shape allows water to run down the structure, rather than the water piling up and collecting on the surface, which may eventually cause the leaf to weigh down.
