City Nature Challenge 2021

Calling all CSUSB Herpers! I am inviting you to participate in this year’s City Nature Challenge! We will be competing for the second time in this global community science event, and our goal is to mobilize even more people and make even more observations of nature than we did last year (which was over 11,000 observations!!!).

Starting next weekend, make as many observations as you can of nature (ANY nature, not just herps) in the Inland Empire (San Bernardino and Riverside Counties) and submit them to iNaturalist. The observation period is April 30th to May 3rd. Then, we have from May 3rd to May 9th to upload observations and provide Taxonomic IDs. Results are announced on May 10th!

Please join our Project Page (https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2021-inland-empire) to receive updates from me, your regional organizer. Spread the word and I look forward to seeing what nature you find next weekend. :)

Goals for the end of this weekend

Hello all, remember that you should have at least 5 Observations (of any herps) submitted to our project page and provide at least 2 Species IDs by Sunday night. Species IDs should be of two different species, along with a description of the defining traits. Keep up the great work :)

Two observations by March 5th!

Hi CSUSB herpers! This is a reminder that you should make two iNat observations of reptiles or amphibians by our first exam, March 5th. These two observations can be of any species of herp and they can be of the same species (just two different individuals). Get outdoors and start searching :)
