Welcome

Hi team, thanks so much for joining the Diablo Pheno team! I can't wait to see what you find out there. Please remember that we want almost all observations from the provided list, but if there is something very special, please do post it! Don't hesitate to contact me with questions via email or phone. Sincerely, Lech

Hey Lech, I'd recommend adding the "must be in place" rule and "must be on list" rule, if only to make it easier for people to find suitable observations to add. If you don't mind not having the extra fields filled out, we could also turn on the aggregator to automatically add observations matching the rules to this project. Let me know.

Ken-ichi - that is awesome - I'd love that aggregation step. I actually don't mind people adding others, since they may not fully know the ID and may call something say "Streptanthus spp." and I don't want to miss those (or would I still get ? ID's). Just learning here. Thanks a bunch! Lech

The aggregator needs those rules otherwise it won't know what to automatically add, so what we could do is add a "must be on Mt. Diablo" rule and a "must be a flowering plant" rule (though you seem to have a moss on that list, which doesn't quite fit with the whole "flowering" phenology bit). That would automatically add all flowering plants from Mt. Diablo to your project which probably isn't what you want either, but we can also make the phenology field a requirement, so it would only automatically add observations when that has been filled out. Alternatively we could make the list a bit more expansive so it includes genera.

Thanks Ken-ichi, I'll do that now. (attempt to, that is) Lech

How important is it to get percent phenology of the population vs. just knowing that there were individuals in fruit / flower / vegetative? The former is something only the observer can fill in, but the latter could be filled in by anyone based on the photo.

Hi Ken-ichi; - it's not vital, but always nice. What I'm trying to discern here is the phenology of the taxon at the location. Often, people catch the first flower, or the later blooms and what I care about is trying to get out there at peak bloom as it usually makes detection rates higher for better ppn estimates. Again, not vital, and could be written in notes section too... Lech

Please feel free to post negative surveys in this thread: i.e. 4/5/16 Mary Bowerman Trail - 0 taxa located. - Lech
