Eliott - Fungi observation: The Violet-Toothed Polypore
The Trichaptum biforme, commonly known as Violet-Toothed Polypore, is a fungi that can be found on remaining logs of dead trees. The mycelium is eating the dead wood from the inside, which greatly contributes to the maintenance of a health ecosystem. They develop violet-toothed shaped mushroom on the outside which are reproductive structures. They are not edible but very beautiful and can make your outside hike a worthwhile experience.
