Kaikoura Wilderness Walk flora and fauna

The Kaikoura Wilderness walk traverses the head of the Puhi Puhi valley. The walk passes through a diverse range of vegetation communities - beech forest, sub-alpine scrub, tussock-grassland, scree, riverbeds, riparian matai forest - in a raw landscape of active faults, screes, erosion guts, gravell-filled rivers, avalanche debris - between the arresting ridge of Mt Alexander and the spectacular peaks in the Seaward Kaikoura mountains. menos ↑
