Ophrys flavicans is not an hybrid between O. bertolonii and O. sphegodes s.l., but a stable species/subspecies belonging to the O. bertolonii group / O. bertolonii s.l. and endemic from Croatia.
Then, the long list of "synonyms" that are considered as a "partially stabilised hybrid complex" by Pedersen & Faurholdt 2007 / Kuhn, Pedersen & Cribb 2019, includes several taxa from diverse countries (Croatia, mainland Italy, Sicily, Malta, Balearic islands, mainland Sapin and France).
Apart from the 3 species with a deviating morphology, pollinated by insects from the genus Osmia (like O. lunulata in Sicily), and occurring in S-Italy / Malta, all the other taxa are geographical vicariant entities that are more or less closely related to O. bertolonii (both pollinated by insects from the genus Chalicodoma) and should/could be considered as subspecies, according to the general taxonomic scheme followed here.
