Taxonomic Merge 78042 (Guardado el 12/09/2020)

While all other genera (including Mucidula, Dactylosporina, and Ponticulomyces) are supported and well circumscribed, Hymenopellis is not, even in the publication where it was proposed: The Xerula/Oudemansiella Complex (Agaricales), ISBN 978-3-443-51059-6. This has led a number of authors to reject the split of Oudemansiella and accept all these genera in a single genus (http://doi.org/10.1007/s11557-013-0946-y, http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.286.1.1, http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.162.4.2, https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Teresa_Lebel/publication/321198072_Nomenclatural_changes_and_corrections_for_some_previously_described_AustralAsian_truffle-like_fungi_Basidiomycetes/links/5a1498b445851500521306f5/Nomenclatural-changes-and-corrections-for-some-previously-described-AustralAsian-truffle-like-fungi-Basidiomycetes.pdf). Given the lack of use of the smaller segregates on iNaturalist and the paraphyletic nature of Hymenopellis, it seems reasonable to treat this group under a single genus, Oudemansiella. Mucidula and Dactylosporina can be maintained as subgenera of Oudemansiella, as these are published.

@cooperj does this seem like a reasonable move? I will draft swaps for the individual species.

Swaps drafted.

@cooperj @else @funkeytom any opinions on moving Hymenopellis into Oudemansiella at this point?

Current multi-locus phylogenies don't seem to support the proposed segregate genera so I'm in favor.
I should tackle the issue in NZFUNGI2 sometime.

Good idea to deal with this one James. I agree with placing Hymenopellis and Cribbea under Oudemansiella, as Hymenopellis is not monophyletic and Cribbea is just a secotioid Oudemansiella (Lebel 2017).

Indeed, a classification consistent with molecular phylogeny, as suggested by @else Vellinga (2010) and adopted by Yang et al. (2009) and Qin et al. (2014), is to accept Xerula sens. strict. (for X. pudens and allies), Paraxerula and a broad Oudemansiella, which includes the genera: Cribbea, Dactylosporina, Hymenopellis (for Oudemansiella radicata and allies), Mucidula (for O. mucida and allies), Ponticulomyces and Protoxerula.

@cooperj - yes, I should update AusFungi as well
