Although I was originally set to merge D. alpestris with D. majalis subsp. majalis, it seems that other identifiers/curators on this site would prefer to maintain some amount of distinction for that taxon. Since both D. majalis subsp. alpestris and D. alpestris are present, a change like this was bound to occur eventually.

Although arguably not consistent with the status afforded to other species on iNat, the current seems to be that giving D. alpestris subspecies status is better for the collection of accurate data.
